Working Capital Tour 2010 Padova: in the morning from the northeast of innovation

14 ottobre 2010, Padova. Working Capital Telecom

The day began with greetings institutional Ivo Rossi, Alessandro Paccagnella Silverio Bolognani and they did the honors. Riccardo Luna in a great shape recalled the sense of Working Capital and succeeded brilliantly to keep vigilant to the stage. But the real stars of the morning were the guys who have presented their work, 10 guys who have been in the game and have decided to risk it for a dream, a project.
Here is the list of participants, just to be on stage, have already won:

  • Benna Diego, Polyphemus: the power and innovation of this program is not in use web services (which arguably are already updated in real time) but to take the information dynamically from the server product and service businesses that agree to share their data to expand the market (law of the market) and to take advantage of e-commerce offering Polyphemus.
The data is taken directly from the database and management in compliance with all safety criteria.
The data are integrated and add value by giving the ability to generate research on products and services in terms of geography.

  • Francesco Massara, Geoemozioni platform to detect the emotional states of collective and cross this information with geo data.
  • Fabio Sacco, E-tourism, web-based tools to analyze the online reputation of the tourist destinations through semantic analysis techniques.
  • Luca Vassena, Context-Aware Browser 2.0, a browser for mobile devices capable of dynamically and automatically find and load web resources relevant to the context in which the user is located.
  • Diego Giorgini, University 2.0, a web platform for the Italian universities, for each course that provides a shared environment and collaborative, with a schedule of classes and exams, materials, discussions and exercises.
  • Laura Ferrari, Mobile Yellow Pages, a web platform to capture, process and display data relating to shift people's minds, using this information to identify locations and time intervals (eg time zones and more popular to go for a run in their own city ) and to extract patterns of behavior and routine.
  • Antonio Moro, CloudUSB, a tool that allows users to have security in their working environment full of programs and data from anywhere and without the need to have with them their own computer.
  • Davide Cavone, IPA - and Personal Intelligent Agent, an application for mobile devices able to complete tasks and objectives required by users of different types, using dynamic and personalized semantic web services.
  • Eugenio Tacchini, Mentorex, online content recommendation system based on Collaborative Filtering (CF), which stimulates the user to evolve their own tastes, relying on the concepts of good diversity and serendipity.
  • Robert Presta, BACON, architectures and solutions for managing content on a network of content-centric, through the analysis of information about users' behavior, both on the methods of production and use of online content, which reports social disparities between the people
Decide the most deserving was very difficult for the jury that he had to make his assessments on several criteria such as innovation, creativity, presentation, curriculum, feasibility, and more.
The quintet of innovation was announced in late morning: Presta, Tacchini, Vassena, Ferrari, Giorgini. But everyone on stage is a winner for having passed the selections, however, have demonstrated for the goodness of their projects.

Prize to the "brains" that do not migrate

Innovation can also be done in Italy, even in the new frontiers of the Internet. Despite the chronic lack of funding - even if it turns out that they are 'snubbed' by European funds billion euro - the ideas and no shortage of talent.

To highlight was the stage of Padua Working Capital Tour, the project launched by Telecom Italy to support best business initiatives and research projects as part of Web 2.0.

The meeting was held yesterday in the Department of Information Engineering University of Padua, where they were presented eleven research projects selected from among hundreds submitted by young graduates from all over Italy who have fought five scholarships twenty thousand € with which to develop their ideas for exploring the frontiers of the Internet. How?
Developing applications for social networking for smart phones, to discover a city in accordance with your taste or to find new proposals are not trivial in music, art or science from a reference.

The prize went to Laura Ferrari (progetto Myp), Diego Giorgini (Università 2.0), Roberta Presta (Bacon), Eugenio Tacchini (Reccomender System) and Luca Vassena (Aware Browser). Menzione per Davide Cavone (Ipa),
while the other finalists were Diego Benna (Polifemo), Francesco Massara (Geo Emozioni), Antonio Moro (Cloud Usb) and Fabio Sacco (Etourism).
